Daytona Beach & Neighboring Mainland Communities
Daytona Basic Community – Road Information
When you arrive in Daytona you will realize after fraternizing with the locals, that there is “Mainland ” and “Beachside”. Now I know that you guys are sophisticated traveling people, unlike myself having to ask “What is the difference ?” and after the eye-rolling dumb looks it was explained that Beachside is on the east side of the Halifax River and Mainland is on the west side of Halifax.. The tricky part is knowing how to get Beachside to Mainland and then back again….so let’s have a briefing….this is pretty simple.
You remember our old list of Beachside Communities (south to north)::
Ponce Inlet
Wilbur By The Sea
Daytona Beach Shores
Daytona Beach
Ormond Beach
Ormond By The Sea
This is our new list of Mainland Communities (south to north)::
Port Orange
South Daytona
Daytona Beach
Holly Hill
Ormond Beach
Yes, the list is different!!
We gained a few and lost a few.
Things change on the Mainland. Beer is cheaper. People drive as if they are older.
You will see fewer joyful faces. You will see more the hustle and bustle. You will not want to stay on the Mainland for very long, you will want to scramble back over the bridge to Beachside. So here are your “Scramble Spots”;;
Bridges :: East to West (beachside to mainland)

It took me a few years to find the short cuts, I only used Dunlawton Blvd and International Speedway Blvd bridges for a few years because those were the most memorable. Personally when I arrive in Daytona I like to come over on the Dunlawton Bridge (port Orange Bridge) because it has the most incredible view of the ocean that I have seen. I like ISB (Broadway Bridge) because it is the most beautiful bridge.
